Do Wedding Content Creators Need Gimbals?

Spoiler alert: Not really.

Gimbal

When I first launched CaraBella Events, I did what many new creators do—I immediately bought a gimbal. Why? Because I thought that’s what made me look professional. Everyone had one. So naturally, I showed up to my first few weddings gimbal in hand, ready to film something cinematic and sweeping.

What actually happened?

I spent more time fighting with my gimbal than focusing on the reason I was there: to capture real, meaningful moments. I’d miss key shots because I was busy recalibrating. I felt clunky, slow, and disconnected from the experience unfolding in front of me.

It’s Not About the Gear—It’s About the Vision

A gimbal might be useful for some creators (and it can be great for venue walkthroughs or smooth clips), but what truly makes someone a wedding content creator isn’t their equipment—it’s their creative eye.

Each creator has a unique way of seeing the day unfold. The magic is in our perspective:

  • Catching the bridesmaids peeking through a window during the first look

  • Noticing the bride’s mom quietly tearing up during the ceremony

  • Capturing the maid of honor off in the corner doing the first dance solo because she practiced it with the couple for months

No amount of gear will teach you to look for those moments. That’s not a gimbal’s job—it’s yours.

The Bottom Line

So, do you need a gimbal? No.

Can it be helpful in some scenarios? Sure.

Should you rely on it to define your professionalism? Absolutely not.

Whether you’re a new creator or a curious couple, just know this: a gimbal won't make or break your content. What will? A trained eye, a steady hand, and a heart that knows what moments are worth remembering.
